Incheon Seo-gu Innovation Foundation (INNOPOLIS) eco-friendly technology specialist Kumkang Bio (CEO Ham Chan-hyeok) recently began to enter the North American market in earnest with Vancouver, Canada as its base. To this end, in cooperation with the Vancouver branch of World-OKTA (Chairman Lim Chae-ho), they have established a local distribution network in Canada and are promoting a proof of concept (PoC) for a food resource recycling facility.

On May 10, we signed a Canadian distribution contract between Director Sim Young-jin and the Vancouver branch of Worldocta, and based on this, we will install the 'ZZAMBIO KK-E060 Food Waste Reducer' in the Vancouver area to verify the possibility of applying the technology suitable for the local environment. This product is an ESG-based solution that can directly reduce and recycle food waste on-site, suppressing bad odors and pests and drastically reducing energy and costs for collection and transportation.

Kumkang Bio Co., Ltd. has already successfully completed its first PoC in New York, USA in October 2023, and expects this Canadian demonstration project to become a bridgehead for expanding its distribution network throughout North America. In addition, the safety and reliability of its products have been recognized by recently obtaining the MET certification, a North American electrical and electronic product safety certification.

This Canadian expansion is also a result of the support of the 'Global Expansion Network Project' promoted by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute. Through this project, Kumkang Bio was able to achieve tangible results by receiving professional and systematic support at each stage, from establishing overseas market expansion strategies to finding distribution partners, signing contracts, and conducting verification projects.

In addition, we were invited as a representative of the companies in the INNOPOLIS to the Korea-Canada Networking Luncheon Reception held to commemorate the official visit of the BC Province of Canada to Korea. The event was attended by Premier David Eby, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Lana Popham, and other key figures and economic delegations, and is expected to be a meaningful networking event to expand trade, investment, and technology exchanges between Korea and Canada.

Kumkang Bio Co., Ltd. will continue to advance its technological capabilities centered on ESG values and grow into a company that leads sustainable resource circulation solutions in the global market.
